Historical Faces #11

Historical Faces # 11
oil on ply, acrylic ground
12.7 x 12.7 cm/ 5 x 5 in
The 11th in my series of portraits of women for International Women's Day 2017.  This is a portrait of  so called "Tokyo Rose" from photos I found online.  Iva Toguri was U.S. American woman wrongfully convicted and eventually pardoned.  This article I found on the web is the most detailed one I found and there is also  book written about her story.
I used ivory black, titanium white burnt umber and van dyke brown for this portrait.    My references are changing and no longer all "Victorian".
